This week we look at a family friendly game, Hey That’s My Fish! It is recommended from years 8+, but having played it I know of a few kids who could pick it up at a younger age!
Your job seems simple: race across a random arrangement of icy fish deposits with a colony of up to four penguins, as you attempt to seize the most fish. But watch out! Competing penguins will try to block you off while the ice floe around you shrinks away. Grab the best fish and outmaneuver your opponents to ensure victory. Whichever player’s penguins collect the most fish by the end of the game is the winner!
Every game is different, with players placing the tiles at the start of the game, meaning no two layouts will be the same!
You control 2-4 penguins each (depending on how many players), and slide across the ice however many tiles you want, collecting the tile you moved away from. Penguins can’t jump over the holes, and you can’t slide onto the same tile as another penguin. Once you reach a point where you cannot move, that player’s game is over, and removes their penguins until everyone is finished. Then, add up the number of fish on the tiles you have collected and the winner is the player with the most fish! Super simple!
Pick up a copy from Element Games to start sliding around the ice fields in style, and check back next week to peek into another game!
